Hello. My name is Danielle Long, a graphic artist born and raised in Middle TN. I studied Graphic Design at Memphis College of Art and Watkins College of Art, and graduated from Watkins College of Art at Belmont in December 2020 with a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design. I am passionate about creating designs and packaging while incorporating my skills as an illustrator as well. I have created designs for the Music City Hot Chicken Festival, Fortune's Path, and the Nashville Predators. I am currently working for the Tennessee State Museum as their Graphic Designer and Illustrator.
The above poster was inspired by my intense college career, which I have often compared to a boxing match. In 2016, I enrolled at Memphis College of Art, which would eventually announce its closure in 2018. I then transferred to Watkins College of Art in Nashville. In early 2020, Watkins also announced its untimely closure and merger with Belmont. And within a month, I not only was sent to Watkins College of Art at Belmont, but I was also sent into my senior semester by working from home due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I modeled the poster after early boxing posters from the early 1900s, giving the portrait and type a worn hand printed look.
Currently, I am working as a Graphic Designer for the Tennessee State Museum where I create various marketing materials, ads, and illustrations to promote the children's events. I design our quarterly newsletter throughout the year, along with creating posters promoting our Haunted Museum each year. When I am not working for the museum, I am freelancing or creating my own art to sell at various comic cons throughout Tennessee.
